Century Cycles earns award
The League of American Bicyclists recognized Century Cycles on Wednesday with with a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business award.
Century Cycles -- with shops in Peninsula and Medina -- is among 800 businesses, government agencies and companies in 39 states so honored.
The company encourages bicycling as an easy option for transportation.
Bicycling incentives for employees include cash pay backs for cycling to work, secure bike storage and a guaranteed ride home in case of inclement weather or mechanical difficulties.
"We have always considered ourselves bicycle-friendly in the 22-plus years that we have been in business," said Scott Cowan, owner of Century Cycles, in a news release. "We are also very proud to be the first business of any type in Ohio to earn the gold level of Bicycle Friendly Business."
