Medina County Bicycle Club Ice Cream Odyssey on July 19 offers three sweet bicycle rides to choose from

MEDINA, Ohio (June 27) – The Medina County Bicycle Club (MCBC) Ice Cream Odyssey on Saturday, July 19, is an event for bicyclists who are eager to ride through the small and scenic towns of southern Medina and northern Wayne counties – and who want an ice  cream cone thrown in for good measure.

EVENT DETAILS

Name: The Medina County Bicycle Club Ice Cream Odyssey

Date: Saturday, July 19, 2008

Event start/finish location: Medina County University Center

6300 Technology Lane, off Route 162 just south of Medina between Routes 3 and 42.

Time: Registration is at 8:00 a.m. The ride begins at 8:30 a.m. (all riders must be on the road by 9:30 a.m.).

Cost: Registration is $25 per person, which includes a map, an ice cream cone for the two longer routes, a free t-shirt while supplies last, and a free cookout upon finishing.

What to bring: MCBC Ice Cream Odyssey is a sagged ride supported by Century Cycles. However, riders should bring basic tools, pump, water bottles, and patch kits. MCBC requires all participants to wear approved bicycle helmets and to observe all traffic laws.

Sponsors: Century Cycles, The University of Akron, the Medina County University Center, and The Hype Center.

Ride details: The MCBC Ice Cream Odyssey offers three different rolling and mostly rural rides for participants to choose from – 62-mile, 42-mile, and 25-mile routes. The 62-mile and 42-mile routes will take riders to Hartzler Family Dairy Ice Cream Shop near Wooster, Ohio, for an ice cream cone. The 62-mile route continues through the scenic Overton Valley to West Salem, while the 42-mile route returns to the start/finish. The 25-mile route is a shorter, less challenging ride designed for families with small children and casual bicyclists.
