CENTURY CYCLES TOWPATH NIGHT RIDES

Cycle the 19th-century historic route of the Ohio & Erie Canal, near Cleveland, using the same towpath that mules walked to pull flat-bottom boats loaded with commodities and passengers bound for western expansion. Century Cycles, of Peninsula, Ohio, puts their own spin on this family- and beginner-friendly ride by cycling 15-20 miles of the towpath at night. Lights are required. Rides take palce on various Friday and Saturday evenings through the summer and fall, ending on October 9th.

Those seeking a longer adventure are encouraged to ride the entire distance from Cleveland to New Philadelphia, Ohio and visit the historic landmarks and visitor center along the way. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers a Bike Aboard service for $2 for those wanting to cycle one-way and return by train. The Towpath Night Ride is a free event and a complete ride schedule with links to the history of the towpath can be found on Century Cycles' website: www.centurycycles.com
