What We Ride: Neil Adams

Raleigh Clubman

Neil Adams, who works part-time at the Century Cycles store in Medina, purchased this '09 Raleigh Clubman in July of 2009. Here's what he has to say about the bike:

I've always loved steel-framed bikes. I rode a steel Nishiki for over 25 years, and when it came time to replace it, the Raleigh Clubman fit the bill perfectly. It's an extremely comfortable bike, and yet still fast and efficient. I've already put about 4,000 miles on it.

Neil is doing most of his riding at this time of year on an indoor trainer, to get ready for next year's riding season, which will include a 3-week long, 900 mile self-supported bicycle tour in Nova Scotia. He's made some changes to the bike to make it more appropriate for the trip, mainly swapping out the wheels for heavy-duty touring wheels, and trading the original compact double crankset for a triple, which required an upgrade to the front derailleur. It's got a Blackburn rear cargo rack; he's planning to add a front rack and will use a set of Arkel front and rear panniers.
